Deacon Blues

This was my second time staying at Deacon Blues and it was as wonderful as the first, seven weeks of bliss. This the cleanest and most well maintained house I’ve ever rented. It’s so tastefully decorated and very homey. The St George Plantation environ is lovely. I like the quiet location and view of the bay. Jan-Feb were a little colder than normal so the fireplace came in handy. I managed to bike ride almost every day. The paved bike path was super nice. I took our two goldens for a walk and to the beach almost every day. The beach is only a 5-10 minute walk and dogs are allowed on the beach (on a leash of course).

This was our second stay at Beacon Blues. We love its location - very quiet and peaceful and only a few minutes' walk to the beach. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The area was wonderful for dog walking and biking as well.
We experienced a power outage while we were there. We called the afterhours number, and the person was very helpful, calling the power company for us and keeping us apprised of the repair. (Our transformer had been struck by lightening)

This home nestled in the beautiful Plantation neighborhood. The property offered the feel of being on a private island. We had a gorgeous view of the bay and enjoyed biking through the neighborhood. Access to the beach was close enough to walk. We would definitely stay here again.

My experience staying at Deacon Blues was excellent. I was there gir 5 nights & the house was well equipped and super clean.

Our first time at SGI and we loved staying at Deacon Blues! The property is on the bay side of the plantation which is a bit more private than some of the beachside homes. Many trees and plants surround the property giving it a very natural, secluded feel. The home and property were very clean and well-maintained. We enjoyed all the various decks and porches where you could sit outside and enjoy the surroundings. Stars/milky way were very visible at night, great view off of master bed deck. The walk to the beach is not bad at all (about 5-7 minutes) and worth it in my opinion for the extra privacy. We enjoyed Aunt Ebby's ice cream on the island. Also recommend taking a drive up to Wakulla Springs (about 1.5 hour). The boat tour of the river was wonderful. Also Millender seafood in Carabelle has a great little seafood store. Very clean, great selection. We almost rented another home not on the planation and I am glad we did not. The plantation is so much of a nicer setting compared to the other parts of SGI. I highly recommend Deacon Blues and would definitely stay again.

This was our 3rd year to come to St. George Island and this was our favorite place to stay so far!! We had the best week here and loved everything about this property. Forgotten Shores Properties made sure our stay was perfect. I would highly recommend Deacon Blues! We hope to stay here again next year!

Very nice wonderful house .I Loved the deck with grill area a lot . With enough room for 2 adults and 4 kids . Beautiful area with nice beaches . Wonderful vacation .

The booking process was a breeze and the people at Forgotten Shores were friendly and responsive. The house was just perfect for our family vacation, so comfortable and inviting. We loved the thoughtful details such as comfy outdoor seating, screened in porch and abundance of games to play as a family. It was a short, easy walk to the beach, tucked away in a quiet part of the Plantation. So thankful to be able to bring our four legged family members too. We would definitely like to come back!

This property is beautifully maintained, private, comfortable & spacious. The views of the bayou are mesmerizing, especially during sunset when the palms & pines are silhouetted against the purple & orange sky. It’s awesome!

This house was Beautiful and not your typical rental. You immediately can see and feel the pride in ownership in every room. It is very private and peaceful with gorgeous views at sunset towards the Bay. Loved the screened in porch and enjoyed watching the birds that came to the feeder. A quick 5 minute stroll to the Gulf Beach which was stunning. We were the only ones on it most days! The kitchen was well equipped and stocked with spices and supplies which we very much appreciated. Upstairs master bed was very comfortable with great pillows. Stayed for 2 weeks and attempted to book for 4 next year but it was already reserved! We loved it that much. Hope to be back someday
and Thank You for being dog friendly . Our pup sure did love it here as much as us!!

We have visited SGI/Plantation many times, but this was our first experience renting through Forgotten Shores Properties. Everything was completely seamless -- rental process; property was as described/photographed. It was available several hours before the posted time. Forgotten Shores provided timely written information regarding access to the Plantation, house, property pools and gym.

We have been going to St George Island for the past few years and decided this time to move away from beach side. So glad we did!! We got to enjoy so much more, the beach, the nature and trails. We had 3 generations stay here and it was wonderful.

Relaxing and comfortable home. More than just a beach house. The sunsets on bayside were stunning.

First time visiting the island. We had friends who have visited for many years. We spent time at their place and there was no comparison to Deacon Blues! We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning next year!

Second time staying here and we look forward to going back next year!

Best vacation yet! Beautiful home. So much room! We loved it!

Such an amazing trip, with our 4 daughters and son in law. Our oldest daughter took her last test for nursing school while we were on our stay. This realtor was the most helpful and accommodating! They made sure she had access to internet for her zooms as well as treating each of us with so much kindness and respect. The house was so well equipped and felt so much like home! We love St. George Island and would definitely book this house again! Thank you so much for the family memories

We just loved Deacon Blues! It was super clean, beautifully decorated, and well-stocked with everything you need. Loved the screened-in porch and the privacy. It was so nice that we were able to bring our 2 golden retrievers. They were allowed on most of the island beaches which was great. We will definitely be back to St George Island and Deacon Blues!

We loved Deacon Blues. It is so quiet, private, and peaceful, it has everything you need and it is perfectly furnished and maintained.

My husband and I, along with our terrier Chester, just returned home from a February stay on SGI. This is the fifth year in a row we've taken a late winter or early spring trip to this lovely island, and this is the third time we've stayed for a month in the Plantation. Deacon Blues is my favorite of the properties we've stayed at. This home is so well maintained and comfortable. We had absolutely no problems at all. We loved the large screen porch, which is so nicely furnished. We also really liked the deck with the outdoor kitchen, and appreciated being able to grill on the same level as the kitchen.
This house was the perfect size for us. So many of the properties in the Plantation are so large, and many have the living area on the top floor. We enjoyed not having so many stairs to climb.
Some people might not care for the location, but we actually prefer the bay side of Leisure Lane to the Gulf side because it's more secluded and private. And we enjoyed the walk to and on the beach.
Jamie (and Forgotten Shores in general) was easy to work with. Although Jamie wasn't always super quick to answer my inquiries, I understood because this is such a small company. And based on this cleanliness and condition of this property, I'd say they do very good work. This part of the island had a planned water shut-off one day (to fix a leaking pipe), and Forgotten Shores contacted us about it well in advance so that we could be prepared.
All in all, we had a wonderful month at Deacon Blues and hope to return some day!

Upon arrival we felt quite secluded.(It was dark out) Once we roamed around the area we saw others but quiet at this time of year. This property is not surrounded by the other houses so it offers great privacy. We enjoyed the kitchen with all its amenities, loved the back porch bay view which you could see from all the large windows in the house. The gas grill is large and great to prepare food on. Our pups liked the view of all the chippys from the large screen-in porch. Time frame of stay was mid January which isn't the warmest time but ok for dog walking or riding the beach bikes and walking on the beach. We would return just to see the beautiful sunsets. The house is very open and comfortable and has Lot of games/cookbooks to choose from.

This property is a gem! The rental company was very easy to deal with and very professional, going above and beyond to rescue us when we locked ourselves out at 12:45 AM. It's a short, easy, walk to the beach from the house. The house itself was clean and perfect for our needs. We would definitely stay again.

we booked Deacon Blues to enjoy our first SGI stay and to take advantage of parental leave with our new infant and our toddler. the house was even larger than we necessarily needed, but pretty well suited to our needs. Forgotten Shores was attentive to our needs during our stay (3 am smoke detector going off...), i would book with them again.

Excellent location and beautiful home. Definitely would recommend for a group (we had three couples). Absolutely loved the outdoor kitchen and comfortable beds. It was very buggy - but that is to be expected. Just be sure to prepare for it. Also, we only had one bath towel per guest for the week, so consider bringing extras. Overall a fantastic trip in a great spot!

The home was clean and very well maitained. It was peacefull with an amazing sunset view over the bay. Jamie with the management company was very nice and was always helpfull. Our german shepherd had a fun time chasing all the small lizards around the yard. Would recomend this home to everyone.

The best rental we’ve ever experienced. We felt at home in this beautiful home. Plenty of privacy and peace and quiet. Just what we were looking for.

Beautiful Home, Awesome sunsets, excellent Grill, fantastic screened in porch and Master Suite. Beds are great. Water pressure great in showers. Poor essential provisions. It was definitely a downer to have to go get Toilet paper, paper towels, plastic
wrap, Kleenex, and garbage bags. Didn't expect that
for such a nice place.

Great stay at Deacon Blues. The views from the screened in balcony were awesome along with the grill area and wonderful great room and kitchen area. Deacon Blues is in a wonderful wooded location close to the bay and the beach.

My sister and I stayed at Deacon Blues for the entire month of February 2021. What a great experience! The house was perfect and the location is very private. I would highly recommend this house to anyone and I would definitely stay again myself.

We enjoyed our stay at Deacon Blues. The house is beautiful inside and out. The unique antique furnishings and framed photographs of fishermen from years ago were especially nice. It was very relaxing to be secluded among the trees with a view of the Bay from the back deck with the wicker furniture. We saw a Great Horned Owl, an Ibis and other birds from the deck. The beach was beautiful, not crowded and is just a short distance. We will be back to Deacon Blues.

Excellent vacation rental. Very clean upon arrival. Great location, secluded with fantastic bay views. We saw owls from the master balcony and the sunset views were fantastic. House had all supplies you would ever need and all TVs were smart which was great to use Netflix etc. Seven minute walk to the beach, but on a quiet street.

Jamie was fantastic to work with; we would gladly come back to Deacon Blues again and use Forgotten Shores Properties again.

For those wanting the short version? Book this house you won’t be disappointed.

My wife and I managed to get a few day’s free to take a quick trip for our anniversary. But being last minute and some areas of Fla and Alabama still closed from the recent hurricane, availability was a little tighter than expected.
Found a place booked on line. I thought we were ready to go but the day before we were to leave we got a call from the property manager saying that the house was uninhabitable due to flooding of the septic system so I had to start all over.
Was annoyed by the ridiculous never ending fees the big sites charge so I have made it a practice to look for local management companies. Found forgotten shores property management and spoke to Jamie R. She was very professional knowledgeable and very helpful. She handled everything quickly and the rental the property and overall experience were among the best we ever had. The house was the nicest pet friendly property we have been to. Better than the pics and that’s saying something. Great layout very well setup. Highly recommend forgotten shores and Deacon Blue vacation home.

We really enjoyed this beautiful home and the screened in porch was our favorite place. Great open floorplan concept to watch the sunsets over the bay. We were even able to bring our boat and it fit in driveway. We will be back for sure.

My family and I just had the pleasure of staying at this this wonderful St. George Island Plantation home and we highly recommend it! There is not a more perfect place to go to get away and relax than St. George Island Plantation. We all loved the completely private, peaceful setting surrounded by trees, along with a beautiful view overlooking the bay. With a short walk to the beach and a serene and relaxing environment when you get back to this beautiful house, it is truly the best of both worlds! Not only did we enjoy the beautiful sandy white beaches, we also enjoyed biking, walking and running along the tree lined trails and I enjoyed being able to exercise in the swimming pool with lap lanes while my grandchildren enjoyed swimming in the open area. There is even a fitness center, pickle ball and tennis courts for those who want to enjoy other activities. Just a short drive from the island is the quaint town of Apalachicola, with great fresh seafood restaurants, and fun stores to shop in. Great memories were made and we look forward to our next trip back to St. George Island and this wonderful Deacon Blues home!
